Get new Auto Trader cars by email, one mail per check

An inbox is still the easiest place to keep a car search going for weeks, and an email that only contains the cars added to Auto Trader since the last look saves all that scrolling.

3 steps

Set up in a minute

  1. Search on Auto Trader, sort by newest

Get the Auto Trader results page right

Start with your postcode and a search radius, choose the make and model, and add a maximum price, a minimum year and a mileage limit. Fuel, gearbox and body style help if you have a preference, and the seller filter lets you include private, trade or both. Sort by the newest adverts, then copy the page address.

  2. Copy the link, paste it into mxsender

Create the search in MXSender with email

Paste the address, pick email and confirm your email address. There is no app to install. Telegram is also on every plan, if you ever want the same search as chat messages.

  3. New listings land in your inbox

    Look out for the digest

Each check that turns up new cars sends one email containing all of them, every one with a photo, its price and a link to the advert. When nothing new is listed you hear nothing. Every email ends with an unsubscribe link.

A mail that leaves out yesterday’s cars

Searching Auto Trader by hand means scrolling past the same adverts every evening to find the few that are new. The email only carries cars that were not there on the previous check, so reading it takes a minute.

The very first check simply records what is already advertised, so you are not sent the whole market on day one.

Making sure the first mail is seen

Your email provider decides which folder a message goes to. After the first match, check spam and the promotions tab too. If you find it there, mark it as not spam and add the sender to your contacts so later ones are easier to spot.

Turning on notifications for that label on your phone means a good car does not wait until you are back at a desk.

Who gets the Auto Trader emails

Free and Starter send to one address. Pro sends to up to three, which is handy when a parent is helping a son or daughter find a first car, or when a friend who knows engines wants to see every candidate before you book a viewing.

Private or trade, and the paperwork either way

Auto Trader lists cars from dealers and from private sellers. A dealer generally gives you more legal protection if something is wrong; a private sale is usually cheaper but sold as seen, so the checks matter more.

Look up the MOT history on gov.uk, pay for a history check covering finance and insurance write-offs, and confirm the V5C logbook is in the seller’s name at the address where you see the car. Never send a deposit on a car you have not seen.

Plans for an Auto Trader email search

Free checks one search every 30 minutes. Starter costs $5.99 for five searches every 10 minutes. Pro costs $14.99 for twenty searches with the fastest checks and three email addresses.

❓Frequently asked questions

Will I get an email for every single car?

No, one email per check, listing every new car that check found.

Can I file the emails by model?

Yes. Use a label or folder per search; after a few weeks it shows what similar cars were advertised for.

Is this run by Auto Trader?

No. MXSender is independent and reads the public search page you give it.

How do I stop the emails?

Use the unsubscribe link in any of them, or delete the search.

Can I follow two models at once?

Yes, as two searches. Free has one search, Starter five, Pro twenty.
