HOWOGE flats in Berlin, sent to your Telegram

HOWOGE is one of the city-owned landlords in Berlin, and a card in your Telegram chat tells you when a new flat appears on its site so you are not the hundredth person to ask about it.

Set up the flat search on HOWOGE

Open the flat search on the HOWOGE website and set the filters you care about: district, number of rooms, the most you can pay in rent and, where offered, the floor area. When the result list shows only flats you would really take, copy that page's address from your browser.

Tap the card when a flat appears

When a check spots a new flat, a card arrives in the chat with the photo, title, rent and a button that opens the listing. A hashtag tells you which search it belongs to, and the chat is the same on your phone and your laptop.

Who rents from HOWOGE, and why it is crowded

HOWOGE is a municipal housing company owned by the State of Berlin. It lets its own flats directly, so there is no agent and no commission. That makes it a first stop for students, families and newcomers to the city, and it means every new listing draws a crowd of applicants.

Many people only see a new flat hours after it went up, by which time contact may already be closed. Being early is the whole game, and refreshing a website between meetings is a poor way to play it.

Newcomers to Berlin: a few German words to know

Listings on the HOWOGE site are in German. Kaltmiete is the rent without heating and service charges; Warmmiete includes them. Zimmer counts rooms excluding kitchen and bathroom, so a 2-Zimmer-Wohnung is a living room plus one bedroom. WBS means Wohnberechtigungsschein, a housing entitlement certificate that some listings require.

If you do not hold a WBS, read each card's listing for that word before writing. Your browser's translation feature handles the rest of the page.

Several districts, one tidy chat

You might want Lichtenberg for the commute and Treptow-Köpenick for the green space. Save each as its own search and every card carries that search's hashtag, so the chat stays readable. A search you only half care about can be muted; its cards then arrive without a sound.

Forward a card to a partner or flatmate in two taps when you need a second opinion before you write to the landlord.

How often a HOWOGE search is checked

Free covers one search, checked every 30 minutes. Starter at $5.99 covers five searches, checked every 10 minutes. Pro at $14.99 covers twenty searches with the fastest checks. Telegram and email are included in every plan.

We do not promise when a given flat will reach you; the card comes with the check that first sees it.

❓Frequently asked questions

Will I get every flat that is already on the site?

No. The first check records what is online and treats it as known. After that, only flats that appear later are sent.

Does MXSender apply for the flat for me?

No. We tell you a new flat is up. You contact HOWOGE yourself through the listing.

I don't speak German. Can I still use this?

Yes. The card shows the photo, rent and link, and your browser can translate the listing. Prepare a short message in German for your enquiry, as that is what the landlord reads.

Can I watch flats that need a WBS and flats that don't separately?

If the site's filters let you separate them, yes, as two searches. Otherwise one search and a quick look at each listing does the job.

Is there a cost for using Telegram?

No. Every channel is included in every plan, including Free.
