A sensibly priced used car in a German city does not stay quiet for long. Sellers answer the people who get in touch first and sound serious, then stop replying once a viewing is booked. If you check the site in the evening after work, the best ads from the morning are often already promised to someone.

Being first does not need luck. It needs the new ad in front of you while it is still new, and a short, concrete message ready: when you can come, that you have the money, that you will bring someone for the test drive.

A Telegram card per new listing, nothing else

You do not get a digest of everything on the page, only vehicles that were not there at the previous check. Photo and price are usually enough to decide at a glance whether to open the ad.

Cards can be forwarded to a friend who knows cars or to your partner. Mute a search you are only half interested in; its cards land in the chat silently and wait for you.

German paperwork words worth knowing before a viewing

HU is the roadworthiness inspection and the ad usually says when it is next due. The Fahrzeugbrief, officially Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil II, is the ownership document; the name on it should match the seller and its VIN should match the car. Scheckheft means a stamped service book.

Never send a deposit for a car you have not seen, and walk away from sellers who insist on shipping or an escrow service they choose. Automobile clubs publish free sale contract templates, including in English.
