Why would you want to know about a lot days before it closes?
Because a Catawiki auction runs for several days, the real advantage is not speed at the hammer but time at the start. A lot spotted on its first day leaves room to read the condition report, zoom into every photo, compare with sold examples elsewhere and ask the seller a question. Spot the same lot in its last hour and you are bidding on instinct.
Catawiki’s weekly themed auctions bring a steady stream of new lots in each category. An email per check gathers the ones that match your search, so the research can begin while the auction is young.
Building the real price of a Catawiki lot
The bid is not the whole cost. Catawiki adds a buyer’s fee on top of the winning bid, and shipping is charged as well; depending on where the seller and you are, import charges may apply. Add them up before you choose a maximum bid, and look at the seller’s rating and the condition report while you are on the lot page.
Writing that total next to the lot in your inbox, or in a reply to yourself, keeps the decision calm when bidding gets close.
An inbox folder for each collecting theme
Collectors often follow more than one theme: watches and fountain pens, or vintage posters and comics. Give each its own search and a mail filter that moves its alerts into a folder. Starred lots become a shortlist you can review in the evening.
Your mail provider decides where alerts land. After the first one, check spam or promotions, mark it as wanted and add the sender to your contacts. Each mail has an unsubscribe link.
Plans and addresses
Free covers one search checked every 30 minutes and one address. Starter, $5.99, covers five searches checked every 10 minutes with one address. Pro, $14.99, covers twenty searches with our fastest checks and up to three addresses. Telegram comes with every plan as well.
❓Frequently asked questions
Does the email tell me when an auction is about to end?
No. It tells you a new lot matching your search was listed; the closing time is on the lot page.
Can MXSender place bids?
No. Bidding happens on Catawiki, by you.
Is the price in the mail the final price?
No. It is the price shown when the check ran; bids, the buyer’s fee and shipping change the total.
Will I get one email per lot?
One email per check, listing every new lot that check found.
Can I follow a whole category?
Yes, if the link you save opens that category; narrow it with filters to keep the mail useful.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Any inbox you already use works.
