The common mistake: joining an e-platform after you find the lot

Taking part in a Prozorro.Sale auction means registering with an accredited e-platform, filing an application and paying a guarantee fee before the lot’s deadline. Many first-timers start that process only when a lot they like appears, and lose days to it. Register on a platform while nothing is urgent, keep the fee money within reach, and an alert becomes something you can act on the same week.

Being early here is not about beating another caller to a phone. It is about having enough days left to read, inspect and apply calmly.

Title and price only — enough to triage a lot

Organisers usually name what is being sold in the lot title, sometimes with a make or year. Together with the price that tells you most of what you need for a first cut: the wrong size of generator, a lot bundled with a building you do not want, a figure far beyond budget. Those you skip. Everything else, open and read in full.

Reading the lot file: fee, deadline, payment after the win

If inspection is allowed, go and check that what is listed is really there — motor, control unit, tooling, the equipment’s own papers — and ask whether it can be started.
