Dry season, a dead pump and a Sunday deadline

Every year the same thing happens in many towns on Java: the well drops, the old pump burns out, and every neighbour is looking for a replacement at once. New units in the hardware shop cost a lot; decent used ones on OLX Indonesia cost far less and disappear fast, because a dozen households want the same thing that week.

Mowers and brush cutters have their own rush before the rains, chainsaws after storms. In each case the buyer who hears first and calls first takes the good one home.

Reading a Viber line without a picture

The message is short on purpose: the title the seller wrote, the asking price and the link. That is often enough to decide. „Pompa air Shimizu PS-128, normal, Rp 450.000“ either fits your well and budget or it does not. If it fits, tap the link for photos and the seller’s number.

So the search does the filtering. Put the brand or the power you need in your OLX query and keep the price limit honest; then nearly every Viber message is worth a look.

What to try on a used pump, chainsaw or mower

Ask to see it running before you hand over money. A pump should build pressure and switch off by itself; check for leaks around the seal. A two-stroke chainsaw or cutter should start within a few pulls and idle without stalling. Look for cracked housings and welded repairs.

Meet at the seller’s place or a public spot and pay on the spot. Treat a request for a deposit to „hold“ the item, a courier-only deal from a stranger, or a request for a code sent to your phone as reasons to stop.
