By the time you check the portal after work, the agent has already lined up viewings and is waiting on one applicant’s paperwork. That is the normal rhythm for good rentals in Colombia’s big cities, and refreshing the site at lunch rarely changes it.

Making the search useful for a Colombian rental

Treat rent far below the area’s level, or an owner who is abroad and wants a transfer before handing over keys, as a warning. Check that the person renting is the owner or a real agency, for example against the property’s ownership certificate, and get a written contract with the rent, the fee, the term and who pays for repairs.
