September, January and the laptop rush in Bosnian university towns

Before each semester students in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Tuzla and Mostar hunt for the same thing: a light laptop that will last four years without costing a month’s rent. Graduates and offices sell older machines at the same time. Good offers are answered within hours, and the seller usually picks whoever wrote first.

A Viber alert puts the new ad in the chat app you already have open, so your message to the seller can be one of the first.

Reading a laptop headline without a photo

Our Viber messages carry the title and price only. For laptops that is often enough to decide: „MacBook Air M1 8/256 baterija 92%“ at 1000 KM tells you more than a picture would. If the title says only „Laptop prodajem“, the price will usually tell you whether it is worth tapping through.

Writing the model name into your OLX.ba search makes the headlines that reach you far more useful.

The Subscribe tap and other Viber details

Opening our Viber chat is not enough; tap Subscribe inside it. If you ever unsubscribe, the messages stop, but your searches stay saved until you subscribe again. One search can also alert you in Telegram or by email at the same time, which is handy if you want photos for the same ads.

Questions to send a laptop seller before meeting

Ask for a photo of the system information screen and of the battery health or cycle count. Ask whether the keyboard, ports and webcam work, whether the charger is original and, for a MacBook, whether the Apple ID is signed out and Find My is off.

Meet somewhere you can plug the machine in and test it before paying. Do not send a deposit for a laptop you have not seen, and never share a code that arrives on your phone.
