From message to viewing in one app

The title of a rental ad on OLX in Bosnia usually holds the essentials: rooms, area, sometimes the size. With the rent beside it, a Viber line is enough to know whether a flat is in the running. Tap the link, look at the photos, and many landlords will answer a Viber call or message from the same screen.

In Mostar or Sarajevo, where a fairly priced flat close to the centre can be promised to someone the same day, those saved minutes are the point.

Writing a rental search that is worth reading

Be honest with the rent ceiling and the areas. A search across a whole city with no room count sends far more than you will ever call about. Two narrow searches, one for your first-choice area and one fallback, beat one wide one. If you only want long-term lets, leave out daily and holiday rentals where the site lets you.

Not seeing photos? Here is the fix

Viber alerts are text only. If the look of a flat decides whether you call, add Telegram or email to that search; both show the photo. Some renters use Viber for the nudge on their main search and email as a dated list of everything they were offered.

Rental red flags in Bosnia

Do not pay a deposit or first month to someone who cannot show you the flat in person. Meet the owner or an agent who can prove they act for them, get a written agreement covering rent, deposit, utilities and notice, and check the meters and condition on moving day.
