Common traps when buying a car off OLX in Romania

A price well below every comparable car, a seller who is „working in Germany“ and will ship it, a request for a deposit to „hold“ the car: these patterns are worth walking away from. So is a seller whose name does not match the registration papers.

Before you travel, ask for the VIN and check the history through the official sources available, including mileage logged at earlier inspections. At the viewing, match the VIN on the body with the papers, then take the car to a mechanic you picked. Pay only once the sale contract is signed.
