Planning pickup: a van, a friend and a tape measure

Furniture on leboncoin is collected by the buyer. Line up transport before replying: a friend with an estate car, a van rented by the hour. Ask for exact measurements, the floor and whether there is a lift, then measure your own door frames and stairs.

Sellers who need the place empty tend to answer the message that already proposes a time and says how the piece will leave the building.

Your moving-in shortlist, kept in one folder

Furnishing a flat is a list: bed, table, chairs, storage. File the emails into one folder and search them by word, so comparing three extendable tables from this week takes a minute instead of an evening of tabs.

Free items, marked à donner, are the ones that vanish fastest. Seeing the photo in your inbox early is what gives you a chance at them.

What to look at on a used sofa or mattress

With upholstered pieces, check the smell, stains and seams when you visit. Looking along folds and seams for signs of bed bugs, punaises de lit in French, is routine caution, no different from testing that a wardrobe door closes.

Pay in person once you have seen the item, and never send a deposit to someone you have not met.

Search words for IKEA series and solid oak

IKEA furniture is easiest to find by series name, Billy, Malm or Pax, and solid wood by adding „chêne“ or „massif“. A broad word like „meuble“ fills the mail with clutter.

leboncoin also offers saved searches with alerts in its own way. MXSender plans set the pace: Free checks one search every 30 minutes, Starter at $5.99 checks five every 10 minutes, Pro at $14.99 runs twenty with the fastest checks. Email and Telegram are on every plan. Your provider decides where mail lands, so after the first match check your spam folder, mark our message as wanted and add the sender.
