A workshop owner’s week with tool emails
Monday you set up three searches: a table saw, a 50-litre compressor and a cordless planer for your battery platform. Most checks find nothing and stay quiet. On Wednesday an email lists a used table saw in ‘very good’ condition below your limit; you open it on your phone at lunch and order before anyone else does.
On Friday another email shows two compressors from the same check. You compare tank size and price side by side in that one message and leave both, because neither is the deal you are waiting for.
Reading an Amazon tool offer properly
Check who sells: Amazon itself or a marketplace seller, and if the latter, their rating, number of ratings and return terms. Heavy machines are awkward to send back, so returns matter more than usual.
For used units, the condition note lists missing parts and marks. Confirm the battery platform and voltage, whether a battery and charger are included, and whether a proof of purchase comes along for warranty.
It also pays to compare the offer with what the same tool costs new on the same page. A used unit only a little cheaper than a new one with full warranty is rarely the bargain it looks like, while a returned item in ‘like new’ condition well below that price usually is.
Making the inbox work as a price record
Set a rule that files our emails into a ‘Tools’ folder. A search there for ‘planer’ later shows every offer and price you were sent, which tells you whether a new one is genuinely cheap.
Mail placement is up to your provider. After the first match, check spam, mark the email as wanted and add the sender to your contacts. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Shared addresses for a small trade business
On Pro the same emails can go to up to three addresses, so the foreman and whoever places orders see a good offer at the same time. Free and Starter send to one address.
Plans: Free, one search checked every 30 minutes; Starter at $5.99, five searches every 10 minutes; Pro at $14.99, twenty searches with the fastest checks.
❓Frequently asked questions
Will each tool arrive in its own email?
No. One email per check, listing every new result that check found.
Can I be told when a tool gets cheaper?
No, there is no price-drop alert. New results in your search are what we report.
Does setting it up send me the current page?
No. The first check records the existing results silently.
Can I follow used offers only?
Where Amazon’s condition filter applies to your search, yes; we watch the page as you filtered it.
Do you vouch for sellers?
No. You check the seller, the box contents and the return terms on Amazon.
