Does a used appliance from OLX.bg make sense?

Often, yes. Plenty of washing machines and fridges in Bulgaria are sold because the owner is moving, renovating or emigrating, not because they broke. A five-year-old machine from a good brand can run for years more at a fraction of a new price. The catch is that the fair ones sell first, and the ones left a week later are often left for a reason.

Built-in units are a particular opportunity. When someone renovates a kitchen in Sofia or Plovdiv, the old hob, oven and dishwasher often go as a set for a modest price, and the buyer who already knows the dimensions of their own kitchen can say yes on the phone while others are still measuring.

Energy class, size and fit: reading the alert mail

Each listing in the mail shows a photo, the title and price. Before you reply, open the ad and look for the model number, then check its energy class, capacity and dimensions online. A built-in dishwasher that is two centimetres too wide is no bargain. Email suits this kind of homework: keep the candidates, search the inbox by brand, and compare at your desk.

Every alert carries an unsubscribe link for the day the new machine is plumbed in.

Seeing it run before the money changes hands

Ask the seller to run a short programme while you watch, check door seals and hoses, look for rust under the machine and listen for noisy bearings or a struggling compressor. If the seller ships by courier, cash on delivery with inspection at the office is a common choice in Bulgaria. Paying in advance through a link a stranger sends you in a chat is not.

The spam check after your first OLX.bg match

Which folder our mail reaches depends on your provider. When your search finds its first appliance, check spam and promotions, mark the message as wanted and add the sender to your contacts. Later alerts then stand a better chance of landing in the inbox.
