Replacing a broken washer without losing a week

When an appliance dies, the temptation is to buy the first one you see. A mail-based search gives you a day or two of choice instead: by the second email you have several options side by side, with photos and prices, and you can pick the best value rather than the nearest.

That breathing room has a limit. The well-priced washer from a family moving abroad will not be there on Friday, so reply on the day it lands in your mail.

Brands, capacity and the words sellers in Kazakhstan use

Sellers often write the brand and the load in the title, for example „стиральная машина 6 кг“. Adding capacity to your search words narrows the mail to machines that fit your family; adding a brand narrows it further but can hide good alternatives. Start narrow, check two or three mails, and widen if the choice is thin.

For fridges, height matters as much as brand, so measure the niche in your kitchen before you search.

Checking a second-hand fridge or cooker at the seller’s flat

Ask the seller to have the appliance connected when you arrive. Watch a washer fill, drain and spin; feel the cold in a fridge that has been running for a while; light every ring on a cooker. Look at seals, the back panel and the floor underneath for traces of leaks.

Pay on the spot when you take it away. Prepaying for an appliance you have not seen, or following a seller to a payment link outside OLX, puts your money at risk.

Making sure appliance mails reach the inbox

Your mail provider decides where messages from a new sender go. After the first match, check spam or promotions, mark it as wanted and save the sender in your contacts.
