The mistake of setting the rent ceiling on base rent

German listings separate Kaltmiete, the base rent, from Warmmiete, which adds heating and service charges. If you set your search ceiling on the base rent you can afford, you will get mails for flats you cannot actually pay for once charges are added. Work out your real monthly limit and use that.

Room count needs the same honesty. If you hold a WBS, the certificate states the size and rooms you qualify for, so align the filters with it.

Your application kit, saved as a draft email

Create a draft mail with your documents attached: recent payslips or proof of income, a copy of your ID and residence permit if relevant, a credit report, confirmation from your current landlord that you owe no rent, and your WBS where needed. Exact requirements depend on the listing.
