Moving to Kyiv or Dnipro and choosing a complex from afar

Relocating for a job or study often means you have to line up a flat before you can view many in person. New complexes are a popular choice for newcomers: fresh renovations, lifts, a closed courtyard. The difficulty is that the good ones are taken by people already in the city who call first.

Do not pay anything before a viewing, even remotely. Put the rent, the deposit, the term and any agency commission into a written agreement, and ask who pays the management company’s fee.

Neighbours still renovating, the next phase still rising

New buildings come with their own surprises. Neighbours may be drilling for months, a later phase of the complex may still be under construction across the yard, and the shop or school promised in the brochure may not be open yet. Ask about all of it on the phone.

Check the house rules as well: pets, access cards, a parking space rented separately or included. These details rarely appear in a listing but change the real cost of living there.
