A five-point list before you save a kids’ gear search

One: decide the item, not the whole category, because a search for everything for kids brings toys, uniforms and school books. Two: set the age or size in the words you type, such as a crib for a newborn or a cycle for a six-year-old. Three: choose a location you can actually drive to on a weekend. Four: set a price that a fair used item would carry, not a dream figure. Five: sort by newest, so the link you save reflects what was just posted.

Then save it. If the first mails feel noisy, change one of the five and save the new link.

Why email suits slow, planned shopping for a baby

Most nursery items are not emergencies. You have weeks before the crib is needed and months before the high chair is. An inbox lets the ads wait for you, so you can read them after the baby sleeps, compare three strollers side by side and call about the best one in the morning.

Make a folder for each item and let the mails collect there. Searching it by brand later tells you what similar things were priced at.

Questions to put to a seller of a used crib or car seat

Ask how old the child was when it was last used, whether any parts are missing and whether the original bolts or straps are included. For a car seat, ask about any accident and look for the manufacture date sticker; if the seller cannot answer, choose another ad.

Pay when you have checked the item in person. Steer clear of anyone who wants a token amount by UPI before showing the item, or a refundable courier deposit, or who sends a QR code for you to scan to receive money.
