A buyer’s checklist before you even open the email

Decide three things first. Which models are you really choosing between, say a Honda City against a Toyota Yaris, or a Suzuki Cultus against a Wagon R? What is the most you will pay, including transfer costs? And is the car for city driving, or for motorway trips between Lahore and Islamabad?

Those answers become your OLX filters. A tight search means each email holds a handful of serious candidates, not a page of cars you would never buy.

Why email suits a family car decision

Buying a car in Pakistan is often a family decision. An email can be forwarded to a father, a brother or the mechanic in one go, photos and links included. You can file each mail in a folder called „Car“, search it later for a model name and see how asking prices moved over a month.

Speed still counts: the best-priced cars draw calls the day they appear. Read the mail when it comes, call the seller of the best one and keep the rest for comparison.

Make sure the OLX alerts reach your inbox

Your email provider decides which folder our mail lands in, not us. After the first match, look in spam or the promotions tab, mark the email as wanted and add the sender to your contacts so later alerts arrive where you read them.

Inspecting a used car bought through OLX

Meet in daylight in a public place or at a workshop. Bring a mechanic, look for repainted panels, check the engine cold and take a short drive. Match the registration book and file against the chassis and engine numbers, and use your province’s online vehicle verification where it exists.

Never send an advance to reserve a car you have not seen. Stories about the car waiting at a cargo office or a seller who cannot meet because of a posting are reasons to stop.
