The mistake: one vague search for a whole restoration

People restoring an old Land Cruiser, a Suzuki FX or a classic Mercedes often start with one search for the car name. The result is a flood of complete cars, toy models and unrelated ads, and the one dashboard part they need gets lost.

Split the job instead. One search for the dashboard, one for the chrome trim, one for the original wheels. Each email then says exactly what it is about, and you can file it under that part.

An inbox that works like a parts register

Email keeps a record. Search your inbox for „gearbox“ and you see every gearbox offered over three months, with prices, so you know what a fair ask looks like before you call. Forward a mail to the customer or to a partner in another city who can collect for you.

Getting the first parts email out of spam

Before paying for a used part from OLX

Ask for the part number and a photo of the label or casting marks. Check fitment for your exact model year, ask whether it is genuine or a copy, and for electrical parts ask to test them. Collect in person where you can, and avoid paying in full in advance to a seller you cannot meet.
