Is your collection one you build over years?

Coin and stamp collectors in Bosnia tend to work slowly: a missing Yugoslav dinar year here, a block of SFRJ stamps there. What matters is not seeing every ad in the first minute but never missing the one that completes a set, and being able to look back at what sold for what.

An inbox does exactly that. Each mail is dated, searchable and easy to file into a folder per collection.

The first mail: check your spam folder once

Your email provider decides where a new sender lands. After the first match arrives, look in spam or promotions, mark the mail as wanted and add the sender to your contacts. After that, filtering it into a „Collection“ folder is a two-minute job.

Every mail has an unsubscribe link, so stopping a search is one click.

Many collectors also set up a second search for the Cyrillic spelling of the same item, since some sellers in Republika Srpska write that way. Both searches can send to the same inbox, and the subject line tells you which one matched.

Comparing prices across Sarajevo, Mostar and Banja Luka

Asking prices in KM have a wide spread on olx.ba: the same set of Olympic Sarajevo ’84 pins can be listed at very different prices in different cities. Keeping the mails lets you see that range before you make an offer.

If the hunt spans the whole country, leave location empty and decide on postage or a meeting point with each seller.

Fakes, reprints and polite questions

Restrikes of old coins and reprinted records exist. Ask for photos of the edge, the reverse or the matrix number in the run-out groove, and compare with a catalogue. A seller who sells in good faith will happily send them.

Prefer handover in person, in a public place, and keep payment for the moment you hold the item.
