A parent’s plan for a Christmas PlayStation

Amra wanted a PS5 for her son by the New Year, and shop prices in Sarajevo were more than she wanted to pay. In November she saved one search for PS5 under her budget and let the mails come in. Within two weeks she knew what a console with one controller usually costs on OLX.ba, which bundles were good value, and which ads kept reappearing. When a fair one showed up in Ilidža, she called that morning.

That is how email suits console hunting: no rush on day one, a complete record, and a clear signal when a real offer appears.

Bundles, games and what to compare in each mail

Console ads often include extras: a second controller, a charging station, a handful of games. Compare like with like. A cheaper console with no games may cost more in the end than a bundle with three titles you would buy anyway. The photo in each entry usually shows what is in the box; the full ad on OLX.ba lists the rest.

Watch for the model in the title. Digital and disc versions of the PS5 and the Lite and OLED versions of the Switch differ in price for a reason.

Seeing the first alert in your inbox

Mail providers decide where a new sender lands. After saving the search, look in spam and promotions when the first match should arrive, mark it as wanted and add the sender to contacts. A filter that moves the alerts into a „Console“ folder keeps them together. Every mail has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Collecting the console safely

Ask the seller to show the console running when you arrive. Try a game, the controllers and the disc drive if it has one, and ask them to sign out of their account. Pay once you have seen it working. A request for an advance payment or a courier deposit for a console that is supposedly in your own town is a reason to pass.
