The habit that costs photographers the good copy

Shutter count, read from the camera rather than the ad

A listing may say „az kullanıldı“, but the shutter count tells you how hard a body has worked. Ask the seller for an untouched original file from the camera; on many models the count can be read from that file's data or from the camera's own menu. Compare it with the rated life the manufacturer gives for that body.

Being early matters here too. The first buyer to ask gets the answer first, and if it is a good one, books the meeting first.

Turkish distributor warranty or an imported body?

A Türkiye garantisi body is serviced inside the country; an imported one can be cheaper but may fall outside local warranty cover.

The invoice and the original box do double duty: they show the warranty status and they show the item belongs to the person selling it. Match the serial number on the box with the one on the camera or lens.

At the meeting: torch, autofocus and a white wall

Shine a phone torch through the lens from behind. Thin branching threads point to fungus and a milky veil to haze, while a speck or two of dust is common and rarely shows in pictures. On the body, stop down and shoot a plain white surface; dark spots are usually sensor dust that can be cleaned, a scratch is not.

Test autofocus near and far. Meet somewhere public, avoid paying a deposit or kapora before you have held the item, and be careful with ship-only offers priced far under the rest.

Bodies under one hashtag, primes under another
