Bodies, lenses or full kits: decide first

A search for a body alone, a search for one lens, and a search for a kit behave very differently. Kits with a body, two lenses and a bag tend to be priced to sell and go quickly; specialist lenses wait longer for the right buyer.

Split them into separate searches. Each gets its own hashtag in the chat, so a Canon RF lens hunt does not drown in body listings.

Naming the gear so the search catches it

Sellers spell things in many ways: „A7iii“, „A7 III“, „a7 mark 3“. Try the two most common spellings as separate searches, or use the shortest word that still means your model. Add a minimum price to keep out straps, batteries and lens caps.

Inspecting a camera or lens before you pay

Ask for the shutter count of a body and check it yourself if you can. Look through the lens against light for haze, fungus or scratches, test autofocus and image stabilisation, and take a few shots on your own card. A bill and box help with resale later.

Meet in a public place in daylight, pay when the gear is in your hands, and decline any advance-for-courier deal. Scanning a QR code or sharing a UPI PIN is never needed to receive money.

If you are travelling to buy, ask the seller for a short video of the camera powering on and the lens focusing, sent through the OLX chat, before you set out. It costs them a minute and saves you a wasted trip across the city.
