Saturday morning, a Canon RP in Bandung

Picture it: someone in Bandung lists a Canon RP with the kit lens, box and two batteries, priced a little under what the shops ask. Within an hour the chat is full of „masih ada?“ and a buyer from Jakarta is already offering to come by train. The photographer who saw the ad first and asked a sharp question got the first reply.

That is the whole point of a Telegram card. You do not scroll OLX looking for it; the new ad comes to you, and you decide from the card alone whether it deserves a message.

Fungus, shutter count and the humid-climate checklist

Indonesia’s humidity is hard on glass. Ask the seller to shine a phone torch through the lens and send a photo: fine webs or spots inside mean fungus, which is costly to clean. Ask whether the gear lived in a dry box.

For bodies, ask for the shutter count and a photo of the sensor, and check that the serial on the body matches any box or receipt. Find out whether it carries an official local warranty or was imported privately, since that changes who will service it.

One chat, several lenses, no confusion

COD or rekber: meeting the camera seller

Where you can, meet in person, test the camera with your own card and pay afterwards, ideally in a busy mall or café. If the seller is in another city, a joint-account service (rekber) is safer than a straight bank transfer. Walk away from anyone who asks for a deposit to „hold“ an item you have not seen, or sends you a link outside OLX to pay.
