Why does a fair iPhone 14 vanish before dinner?

Settings › Battery › Battery Health shows maximum capacity; anything clearly worn belongs in the price. Settings › General › About lists, on recent iOS versions, any part flagged as not genuine, such as a replaced display or battery.

The third check matters most. Ask the seller to sign out of their Apple ID, switch off Find My and erase the phone while you watch. If the setup screen still asks for someone else’s Apple ID afterwards, Activation Lock is on and the phone is useless to you. A Rechnung (purchase receipt) whose IMEI matches the one shown when you dial *#06# is the cleanest proof that the seller owns it.
