German words that find more parts

English part names find little on a German site. Useful words: links and rechts for left and right, vorne and hinten for front and rear, Scheinwerfer for headlight, Rückleuchte for tail light, Stoßstange for bumper, Felgen for rims, Kompletträder for wheels with tyres, Schlachtfest or ausgeschlachtet for a car being parted out.

Add the model generation code if the model has several, such as B8 for the Audi A4 or E90 for the BMW 3 Series, so you are not shown parts for the wrong body.

Which parts get snapped up, and which can wait

A set of winter wheels in autumn, a body panel in a common colour code or a clean interior trim piece from a popular model usually goes to the first buyer who confirms. Rare parts for older cars may sit longer but appear only once in a while.

Either way, the card puts the new ad in front of you when our check finds it, so you can ask your questions while the seller is still answering messages.

Fit, condition and safe payment for parts

Ask for a clear photo of the label or part number and of any mounting tabs. For control units, ask whether they came from a running car and whether they need coding to yours. Sellers often check fit against your VIN if you offer it.

Can I search by part number?

Yes. Enter it in the site's search box before copying the link, and consider a second search using words for sellers who leave the number out.

I live outside Germany. Is this useful?

If the seller ships abroad or someone collects for you, yes. Ads are in German and prices in euros; ask about shipping costs before you agree.

Kleinanzeigen has its own saved searches. Why use this?
