Used power tools on willhaben, straight to Telegram

When your cordless drill dies halfway through a job in Graz, the next fair-priced replacement listed on willhaben can reach your Telegram chat as a card while the seller is still answering the first message.

3 steps

Set up in a minute

  1. Search on willhaben, sort by newest

Search willhaben for the exact tool

On willhaben’s Marktplatz, type the brand and tool in German, the way Austrian sellers write it: Makita Akkuschrauber, Bosch Bohrhammer, Metabo Kappsäge. Narrow the category to tools, set a maximum price in euro and the Bundesländer you can reach for pickup, then sort so the newest ads come first.

  2. Copy the link, paste it into mxsender

Give MXSender the link, pick Telegram

Copy that results page into MXSender as a new search and choose Telegram as the channel. You can tick email on the same search as a backup. No willhaben account is needed on our side.

  3. New listings land in your Telegram

    Watch the cards land

Each new ad shows up in the chat as a card with its first photo, the title, the price and a button that opens the listing. Every search carries its own hashtag, so a drill hunt and a compressor hunt stay apart in one chat.

The German words Austrian tool sellers actually use

Most tool ads on willhaben are written in German, and English searches miss them. A few terms cover a lot: Akkuschrauber (cordless drill/driver), Schlagschrauber (impact driver), Bohrhammer (rotary hammer), Kappsäge (mitre saw), Tauchsäge (track saw), Stichsäge (jigsaw), Winkelschleifer or Flex (angle grinder), Kompressor (compressor), Werkzeugkoffer (tool case).

Two more are worth a search of their own. Konvolut means a mixed bundle, often a whole workbench sold at once. Solo or ohne Akku means the bare tool without battery or charger, which is exactly what you want if you already own batteries from that brand.

Why a Hilti from a workshop clear-out does not last

Pro-grade tools reach willhaben when a tradesman retires, a small firm closes its workshop or an estate is being emptied. Those sellers price to clear space, not to squeeze the last euro, and every contractor in the region knows it. The person who replies first with a pickup time usually takes it.

That is the whole case for a card in Telegram: you see the ad while it is fresh, tap through, and write before the evening scroll begins.

Checks for stolen or worn-out tools

Used tools carry two risks. One is theft: a pile of near-new professional tools, all one brand, far below market price, no receipt and a car-park meeting point are warning signs. Ask for a photo of the rating plate with the serial number and for the original invoice.

The other is wear. At pickup, run the tool under load. Listen to the bearings, smell for burnt brushes, check the cable and the chuck, and on cordless tools ask how old the batteries are. Pay after that, in person, and never send a deposit for a tool you have not held.

Running a crew’s wish list in one chat

Keep each tool as a narrow search rather than one wide query for everything. The hashtag on each card tells you at a glance which hunt it belongs to. A search that is not urgent can be muted, so its cards still arrive, just silently.

Working with a partner? Forward the card. The photo, price and link travel with it, and you settle who drives over in the same thread. Telegram on the workshop laptop shows the same cards as on your phone.

Plans, and willhaben’s own Suchagent

Free checks one search every 30 minutes. Starter, at $5.99, checks five searches every 10 minutes. Pro, at $14.99, covers twenty searches with the fastest checks. Telegram is part of every plan. willhaben offers its own saved search with notifications, the Suchagent, and you can keep it running alongside.

❓Frequently asked questions

Do I have to write my search in German?

It works much better. Sellers write their ads in German, so the German tool name finds far more of them.

Will I get the ads already listed?

No. Everything on the list when you start counts as known. You only get what appears after that.

Can I follow garden machinery and generators too?

Yes. Any results page you can build on willhaben, from hedge trimmers to generators, can be followed the same way.

How many tool searches can run at once?

One on Free, five on Starter and twenty on Pro.

Can several people get the same cards?

Forward them, or push them into a shared Telegram group so the whole crew sees the same ads.
