Where Austrian second-hand parts come from
A lot of parts on willhaben come from private owners breaking a car that failed its Pickerl inspection, or selling last year’s winter wheels after switching cars. Small garages and dealers add leftover stock. For owners of older models this is often the only affordable source of an original part.
A mirror in the right colour or a matching bumper rarely lasts. The seller gives it to the first person who writes and can collect soon, and the Telegram card is how you become that person.
Part number first, everyday words second
The part number is the surest route to a fit, but many private sellers leave it out. Run two searches: one with the number, one with model, year and the plain description people actually type, such as „Passat Rückleuchte links“.
For wheels and tyres the important figures are bolt pattern, rim size and offset. Put the bolt pattern and size into the search text, or you will get cards for every car in Austria.
One chat for the garage, the mechanic and your mate
With grease on your hands you will not be reading email, but the phone is on the workbench. The card shows photo and price at a glance and one tap opens the ad. Forward it to the friend helping with the project or to the mechanic who will fit the part. Telegram keeps the same chat on your laptop, where you can compare listings later.
Making sure it fits before you pay
Match the part number against your registration papers or a parts catalogue. Ask about the donor car’s year, engine and mileage, and request photos of connectors, brackets and labels. For electronics such as control units, check whether coding will be needed.
When collecting, inspect for cracks, rust and broken tabs yourself. If the part is shipped, use the payment and delivery option willhaben offers, and never pay a stranger up front. A rare part at a bargain price from an account with no history deserves a question or two.

willhaben can notify you about saved searches, and you can keep using that. We send the match as a Telegram card, and the plan decides how often we look: Free checks one search every 30 minutes, Starter at $5.99 checks five every 10 minutes, and Pro at $14.99 checks twenty with the fastest checks. Email comes with every plan.
