Summer builds and the rush for second-hand machines

From late spring, families back from Germany, Austria and Slovenia start building and renovating, and demand for concrete mixers, scaffolding and generators rises with them. A fairly priced mixer near Tuzla or Doboj gets calls the day it goes up.

Out of season the opposite happens: tools appear after a build is finished and the owner leaves again. Either way, the buyer who writes first usually takes it.

How wide should a tool search be?

Too wide, such as „alat“, and you get every screwdriver set in the country. Too narrow, such as one exact model in one town, and you may wait for months. A useful middle: one tool type, two or three brands you trust, a price ceiling and a region you can drive to.

Make a separate search per tool type. Each one gets its own hashtag in Telegram, so the grinder hunt and the generator hunt stay apart.

Before you hand over the KM

Ask the seller to run the tool on a video call or when you arrive: a grinder that spins quietly, a welder that strikes an arc, a chainsaw that starts cold. Check the cable, the battery health on cordless kits and whether the charger is included.

Pay on the spot once it works. Be wary of an unusually cheap professional kit with no history; asking where it came from is normal.

For cordless kits, ask how many batteries come with it and how old they are; a pair of tired batteries can cost almost as much as the drill. With petrol machines such as generators, ask when the oil and the spark plug were last changed.
