Used cars on willhaben, sent to your Telegram

You are on the tram, a well-kept Skoda from a private seller two districts away goes up on willhaben, and its card is already sitting in your chat.

3 steps

Set up in a minute

  1. Search on willhaben, sort by newest

Narrow the used-car search in Auto & Motor

On willhaben, open Auto & Motor and go to used cars (Gebrauchtwagen). Choose the make and model, set a floor on first registration and a ceiling on kilometres, then your price limit in euros. Pick your Bundesland, or only the districts you would actually drive to for a test drive. If dealer stock is not what you want, restrict the seller type to private. Finally, sort by date so the newest listings sit at the top.

  3. New listings land in your Telegram

    Let the car cards arrive

Cars already online when you add the search count as known. Anything that appears afterwards comes into the chat as a card: the main photo, the title, the price and a button that opens the ad. Each card carries your search’s hashtag.

Reading a willhaben car card between two tram stops

Austrian sellers usually put the model and often the year or mileage in the title, so the card tells you most of what you need: is it the right car, is the price sane, does the photo show a car someone looked after. You can decide in the time it takes to read one line.

That matters because a fair private car rarely lasts. The seller takes the first few calls, books two or three viewings and stops answering. If you are one of those first callers, you are the one who gets the keys for a test drive.

Paperwork an Austrian private sale should come with

Ask about the §57a inspection, the Pickerl: when the next one is due and whether the last report is there. Look through the Service-Heft for regular stamps. The name on the Zulassungsschein should match the person selling, and the vehicle details in the Typenschein should match the car, including the chassis number.

Drive it yourself, ideally from a cold start. If you are unsure about the mechanics, the motoring clubs ÖAMTC and ARBÖ offer used-car checks. Put the deal in a written Kaufvertrag before any money moves.

Deposit requests and other reasons to leave

Being early also means you see the odd fake ad early. A price well under the market, a seller who is suddenly abroad, a request to pay a deposit or a shipping fee before you have seen the car: thank them and move on. Inspect first, pay after.

An honest seller will happily show you the car, the papers and the service history in person. Anyone who refuses that is not selling you a car.

Favourite loud, fallback muted, partner in the loop

Cross-shopping a Golf in Upper Austria and an Octavia in Styria? Add two searches; both report into the same chat and the hashtag tells them apart. Tap it and only that model’s cards remain.

Mute the fallback search so its cards land without a sound, and forward the interesting ones to whoever is buying the car with you, or to the friend who knows what rust on a sill looks like.

Free, Starter or Pro for a car hunt

Free checks one search every 30 minutes. Starter, $5.99, covers five searches checked every 10 minutes, enough for three models and two regions. Pro, $14.99, gives twenty searches and our fastest checks. Telegram works on every plan.

❓Frequently asked questions

Does willhaben have its own saved search?

Yes, the Suchagent. You can keep using it alongside us. With MXSender you choose the channel, and your plan sets how often the search is checked.

Do I need to read German?

The listings are in German, but a card shows the photo, price and model, which is often enough to decide whether to open it.

Will I get every car that is already listed?

No. The first check records what is there; you only hear about cars added after that.

Can I keep dealers out?

Restrict the seller type to private on willhaben before copying the link. What the list does not show, we do not send.

How do I change the price limit later?

Adjust the filter on willhaben, add the new link as a search and delete the old one.
