The mistake: searching just „laptop“

A bare „laptop“ search across Bulgaria brings in chargers, bags, broken boards sold for parts and office machines from 2012. The good ads drown in it, and you start ignoring the chat, which defeats the purpose.

Decide on two or three model families instead: MacBook Air M1 or M2, a business ThinkPad or Latitude, a gaming laptop with a named graphics card. One search per family keeps every card worth a look.

Companies in Sofia regularly sell off their business laptops, and private sellers who switch jobs list their own. A clean ThinkPad or an M1 MacBook Air at a fair price is exactly what students, freelancers and parents want, so the ad gets messages quickly.

Gaming laptops move fast around the start of the school year and before the holidays. In those weeks, being early counts for more than usual.

Card details worth reading on a laptop ad

Look at the photo for the keyboard: a Bulgarian Cyrillic layout, a US layout or stickers over the keys. Check the title for processor, RAM and storage; sellers who list them usually know what they are selling.

Activation lock, cycle count and a Sofia handover

For a MacBook, ask the seller to sign out of their Apple ID and turn off Find My, then check that no activation lock or company management profile remains. Look at the battery cycle count and condition in system settings.
