A Viber alert about a cot, read honestly

There is no photo card and there are no buttons in a Viber alert; Viber delivers it as text. With baby gear that is less of a drawback than it sounds, because sellers tend to put the essentials in the title: the model, the age range, a cot with mattress, a car seat for 0 to 13 kg.

Read the title and the price, and if they match what you are after, tap the link. The best listings get a message from a buyer fairly soon, so if it looks right, write straight away and suggest a time to come and see it.

Before the first alert: the Subscribe tap in our chat

Viber only lets a business chat write to you after you have subscribed. If you set up a search and nothing ever arrives, this is almost always the reason. Open the chat, tap Subscribe, and the next new listing will come through.

Clothes bundles by size: 68, 80, 92 and onward

Ukrainian parents often sell outgrown clothes as one bundle labelled with the height in centimetres. A search for the next size up, limited to your city, catches these before your child needs them. When the season changes, edit the query or pause it and start another one for the following size.

Winter overalls, boots and coats are worth a separate search each, since they cost more and sell faster than everyday clothes.

Hygiene, wear and safety: what to wash and what to refuse

Fabric covers, sleeping bags and clothes simply go in the wash. Plastic toys and high chair trays clean easily. Dummies, bottle teats and mattresses are things many parents prefer to buy new.

For a car seat, ask whether it was in a crash, look for the R44/04 or R129 approval label and the production date on the shell, and pass on one without them. For a pram, test the brakes, the fold and whether the wheels roll straight. If the seller is in another city, Nova Poshta with inspection at the branch lets you look before you pay.

One search on Free, five on Starter, twenty on Pro

Free checks one search every 30 minutes, which covers a single item such as a stroller in your city. Starter, at $5.99, checks five searches every 10 minutes, handy when you are hunting a car seat, a cot and clothes in parallel. Pro, at $14.99, gives twenty searches on our fastest schedule. Viber is included in all three.
