A Thursday evening in Depok

You are on the commuter train home when your phone buzzes: „MTB Polygon Xtrada 27.5 mulus“, a price that looks right, a link. You tap it, look at the photos, and send the seller a message asking whether you can see it on Saturday morning. By the time others notice the ad, you already have a slot.

That is all Viber does here: it shortens the gap between the ad going up and you knowing about it.

Text alerts without a picture, explained

Our Viber messages carry the title, price and link only. Bike titles on OLX usually name the brand, the type and often the wheel size, which is enough to decide whether to open the ad. If you want the photo in the alert, add Telegram or email; both include one.

Messages stopped coming? Check these

First, our chat: Subscribe must be tapped, and stays tapped unless you unsubscribed. Second, your OLX link: open it in a browser and see if it still shows ads; a search limited to one rare model in one district may stay quiet for long stretches. Widening the area or the price range usually helps.

Test ride, then pay

Arrange to meet in a public place in daylight. Ride the bike, shift through the gears, squeeze the brakes hard, and look closely at the frame for cracks or bad repairs. For an e-bike, ask about the battery’s age and test the assist level by level.

Pay once you have seen and tried it. If a seller insists on a transfer first, offers a price far below others, or sends a link to pay outside OLX, move on.
