Who gets more from a parts inbox than from a chat

A collector rebuilding a classic Iranian car may wait months for the right grille, and a small garage may want to keep a list of every gearbox offered in the city. For that kind of patient search, email works better than a buzzing phone: the ads pile up quietly and you go through them over tea in the evening.

File the mails in a folder per car. Search that folder later by part name and you see what similar pieces cost a month ago, which makes a fair offer much easier.

A short checklist before you reply to a parts seller

Does the ad say which model years the part fits? Is there a part number or a photo of the label? Is it original or aftermarket? Does the price cover one item or a pair? Has the body panel been repaired or repainted? Five quick questions, asked once by phone, save a wasted trip across Tehran traffic.

For engines and gearboxes, ask about the mileage and whether you may hear it running or test it with your mechanic present.
