A Thursday in a Bekasi workshop

A customer’s older Kijang needs a tail lamp the shops no longer stock. The mechanic searches OLX, finds nothing, and checks again after lunch, and again in the evening. On Saturday someone breaking a similar car posts the lamp, and a workshop in Depok has it before the day is out.

That is how rare parts move: one listing, a handful of interested buyers, gone. A saved search with a card per new listing replaces the checking and puts the photo where you already look.

Copotan, original or KW: reading a parts ad

Sellers describe parts in their own shorthand. Copotan usually means a used part taken off another vehicle, original suggests a factory part, and KW is used for replicas of varying quality. Treat these words as the seller’s claim and compare them with the photo and the part numbers.

Ask for a photo of the part number or label and compare it with your old part before paying. For electronics such as an ECU or an instrument cluster, check that it fits your exact variant and year.

Search words that catch the part without catching everything

A single word like „lampu“ pulls in every lamp in the country. Combine the part with the model and, where it matters, the generation or engine code. If the part fits several models, save a second search under the other name instead of widening the first.

Paying for a part sent from another island
