Why spring bikes in Chișinău go to the first caller

When the weather turns, lots of people in Moldova want a bike at the same time, and an honestly priced one in the right size does not wait long. The person who writes to the seller first usually gets the test ride, and often the bike.

A card in Telegram, in a chat you already open dozens of times a day, is the simplest way to be that person without refreshing 999.md all weekend.

A 999.md bike search that fits your body

Know your frame size, in S, M, L or inches, and the wheel size you want, 26, 27.5 or 29 for mountain bikes. Put the size in the query when sellers tend to mention it. One search per type works better than one broad search: a city bike, a mountain bike and an e-bike have different price ranges.

A minimum price keeps out loose parts, helmets and children’s balance bikes when you are shopping for yourself.

E-bike questions to ask over the phone

How old is the battery, and what range does it give today? Is the charger the original one? Is the motor in the hub or in the middle? Has the bike been serviced, and is there a receipt? A tired battery can cost a large share of the bike’s price to replace, so its condition matters more than the paint.

Ask the seller to send a photo of the display showing the odometer if the bike has one.

Is it stolen? Signs worth noticing

Ask for proof of purchase and look up the frame serial, usually stamped under the bottom bracket. A seller who knows nothing about the bike, wants to meet at night or keeps dropping the price unasked deserves extra questions.

Meet in daylight, ride it around the block, listen to the gears and brakes, and only then pay.
