Which appliances go first on Divar, and when

Air conditioners and coolers move fast before the hot months in Ahvaz, Bandar Abbas and Tehran; heaters before winter. Fridges and washing machines from a family moving abroad are priced to sell in a day or two. In every case the first sensible caller tends to get them.

The card lets you be that caller. You see the brand and condition in the photo, open the ad, and message the seller while others are still at work.

Families who are emigrating are a special case. They often post several appliances on the same day, sometimes with a moving date in the ad, and they would rather sell everything to one buyer. If a card shows a fridge from such a seller, ask whether the washer and cooker are also for sale; a combined pickup can save you a second trip and a second van.

Testing an appliance at the seller’s home

Ask to see it switched on. A fridge should cool within a short while and run without loud knocking; a washer should fill, spin and drain; a gas cooker should light on every burner with a steady flame. Check door seals, the plug and cable, and rust underneath. Ask the age and whether it was ever repaired.

Arrange transport yourself, pay when you collect, and do not send money ahead to hold a machine. If a seller insists on an advance or a link outside Divar, move on.
