April to June: the AC scramble in Karachi and Lahore

When the heat arrives, everyone wants a cooling unit at once, and second-hand inverter ACs from known brands are the first to go. People who upgraded last year post their old units, and the well-priced ones attract many calls on the same day. Starting your search in early spring, and seeing each new ad as it appears, is how you avoid paying peak prices.

The same pattern repeats with UPS units and batteries when load-shedding gets worse, and with room coolers in the hottest weeks.

Tonnage, inverter and warranty in your search words

Put the details that matter into the search: the tonnage for an AC, „inverter“ if you want one, the capacity for a fridge or washing machine, and the brand if you have a preference. Narrow searches produce cards you actually want to open. A wide one can be muted and browsed later.

Testing a used AC or fridge at the seller’s home

Ask to see the AC running, both indoor and outdoor units, and check that it cools within a few minutes. Ask about gas refills, compressor replacements and whether the warranty card or purchase bill is available. For a fridge, check the seal and the cooling of both compartments; for a washing machine, run a short cycle.

Factor in uninstallation and installation costs for ACs. Meet at the seller’s place or in public, pay after testing, and do not send an advance to a seller you have not met.
