Checklist: is your lens search too wide or too narrow?

Too wide: „lens“ or „Canon“ alone. You will get kit lenses, filters and whole camera bags. Too narrow: a full model name with version and every letter, which sellers rarely type the same way. Middle ground: the focal range plus the brand, like „Nikon 50mm“, and a price floor.

For bodies, one search per model works best. Sellers often write the model number in Latin letters inside a Persian title, so a short Latin model name usually catches them.

Why a clean 50mm or a full-frame body goes quickly

Good used lenses hold their value, and wedding and studio photographers buy them as backups the moment a fair one appears. A body with a low shutter count from a hobbyist who barely used it is the ad everyone waits for. Those sellers usually talk to the first few people who write and then stop replying.

Inspecting optics and bodies from a stranger

Bring your own camera or a memory card. Shine a phone light through the lens and look for haze, fungus threads and scratches. Turn the zoom and focus rings through their whole travel; grinding or stiffness is a warning. Check that autofocus locks quickly on a few targets.

For a body, ask the seller for the shutter count or read it yourself with a free tool, take a few shots at small aperture against a white wall to spot sensor dust or marks, and test every button and the card slot. Meet in a busy, public place and pay only once you are satisfied.
