Disc or digital, OLED or Lite: get the console right first

Half the bad buys start with the wrong model. A PS5 Digital cannot play the discs you might pick up cheaply from other sellers, a Switch Lite does not connect to the TV, and an Xbox Series S is a different machine from a Series X. Decide which one you want and put that name into the OLX.ba search, not just the brand.

Then think about extras. Many ads bundle a second controller or a few games. Write the price ceiling for the bundle you would actually pay for, so the cards you receive are ones you would buy.

When console ads in Bosnia move fastest

Before New Year, around birthdays in the family and after a big release, demand jumps and fairly priced consoles in Sarajevo or Banja Luka are reserved within the hour. Someone who upgraded to a newer model often sells the old one cheaply to clear space. Those are the ads where the first message decides who gets it.

Several consoles, one Telegram chat

Hunting for a PS5 for yourself and a Switch for a younger brother? Save two searches. Each gets its own hashtag in the chat, so you know at once which card is which, and you can mute the one that is less urgent. Forward a card to whoever is paying half before you agree on a price.

Testing a used console in person

Ask the seller to have the console connected and switched on when you arrive. Check that it starts a game, that the disc drive reads if it has one, that every controller works without drifting sticks and that the HDMI port and fan sound normal. Ask the seller to sign out of their PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo account so the console is yours, not tied to them.

Pay when you have seen it working. A seller who will only post the console after a transfer, or who asks for a courier deposit while living in your town, is a reason to step back.
