Divar camera and lens ads by email

When you are saving up for a particular body or lens, an email that gathers the new Divar ads from your own search after each check is an easy way to keep up without scrolling.

3 steps

A photographerโ€™s slow, careful upgrade

Say you shoot weddings in Shiraz on a crop body and want a full-frame camera before next season. You are not in a rush to grab the first one; you want a good one at the right price. A mail after each check with new offers fits that pace. You open it with coffee, look at the photos, and reply to the two ads that look right.

If you would rather jump at every offer, use Telegram instead. Email is the calm version of the same search.

An inbox folder as a used-lens price list

Put the mails under one label. A month later you can search for โ€ž85mmโ€œ and see every offer with its date and price. You learn which lenses rarely appear, which bodies are always on sale, and how much a box and receipt add to the price.

That record is also useful when you sell your old body: you know what similar ones were offered for.

Questions to settle before meeting a camera seller

Ask for the shutter count and a recent photo taken with the camera. Ask whether the lens was ever opened or repaired and whether there is haze or fungus. Ask if the box, charger and receipt come with it. A seller who refuses a test at the meeting, or wants money before you see the gear, is a reason to move on.

On the day, shoot a few frames, check focus and the sensor against a plain wall, and look through the lens against a light. Pay only after that.

Finding the first camera mail

Your provider decides where new senders land. After the first match, check spam or promotions, mark our mail as not spam and save the sender address. An unsubscribe link sits in every message.

Searches and addresses per plan

Free: one search checked every 30 minutes, one address. Starter, $5.99: five searches every 10 minutes, one address. Pro, $14.99: twenty searches, the fastest checks and up to three addresses, useful for a studio with several shooters.
