The mistake of searching only on weekends

Many musicians look for a used instrument the way they practise scales, in a block on Friday. The trouble is that a fairly priced upright piano or a good student violin posted on Sunday morning is usually sold or promised by Tuesday. You never even see it, so you decide the market is overpriced.

Email fixes the blind spot without demanding your attention. Every check that turns up something new leaves a mail, and on Friday you can still read the whole week, then call about the one ad that is still live.

An inbox archive of instrument prices

Prices in toman for the same kind of setar or keyboard vary a lot between sellers. Keep the mails in a folder and search it by maker or model; after a month you have your own price history, which is useful when a seller says the price is final.

There is nothing to install, every mail has an unsubscribe link, and Pro lets three addresses receive the list, so a teacher can see what a student is considering.

Testing a used piano, guitar or daf

Arrange to play it. For pianos, press every key, use each pedal and ask when it was last tuned; moving one also costs money, so ask about stairs and lifts. For guitars and bowed instruments, look for cracks near the bridge and a twisted neck. For a daf or tombak, check the skin and the frame joints.

Pay at the handover, not before. If the seller asks for a deposit by card transfer or sends you a link to „confirm“ something, stop and keep the conversation in Divar’s chat.
