Three bike buyers who prefer email

A commuter in Tehran who wants a cheap e-bike for the ride to work and checks mail once a day. A father in Mashhad comparing children’s and adult bikes for the whole family. A small repair shop that buys tired bikes to fix and resell, and keeps every offer in a folder. None of them wants a phone that chimes through dinner.

Email gives them the same new ads as the chat cards would, collected per check and ready to read when they have time.

Getting the price right for a used e-bike

E-bike prices on Divar vary a lot with battery age and motor type. Keep your alert mails in one label for two weeks and you will see where the ordinary range sits for the model you want. An ad well below that range is either a bargain or a battery near the end of its life; you now know which questions to ask.

The same works for mountain and road bikes: compare frame material, groupset and wheel size across the mails before you call.

On the test ride: frame, brakes, battery, papers

Look for cracks and dents on the frame and fork, check that the wheels spin straight, and try all gears and both brakes under load. On an e-bike, ride with the assist on, watch the battery level, and confirm the charger works.

Ask where and when the bike was bought and whether there is a receipt; a seller with no story for an expensive e-bike deserves caution. Do not pay a deposit to hold a bike you have not seen, and meet in a public place.
