Is email too slow for OLX?

It is a fair question. Email suits hunts where the right ad matters more than the first five minutes: a kos near campus in Yogyakarta, a used washing machine, a desk for working from home. You read the mail when you sit down, compare two or three new ads side by side, and message the seller who fits.

If you are chasing something that sells within the hour, add Telegram or Viber to the same search and keep email as the record.

Your inbox as a price diary

Because every new ad lands in a mail you can keep, after two weeks you have a quiet history of what sellers in your city ask. Search the inbox for a model name and you see the spread of prices without opening OLX again. File the mails into a folder, archive the ones you dismissed, and the hunt stays tidy.

Titles stay as the seller wrote them, often in Indonesian; the link opens the full ad with the description and the chat button.

First match: look in Spam and Promotions

Where a new sender lands is your mail provider’s call, not ours. After the first match, check Spam and Promotions, mark the message as wanted and add the sender to your contacts so later mails reach the inbox. Every mail has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Meeting sellers in Bandung, Medan or anywhere else

Agree on a public place for small items, take a friend for bigger ones, and check the item before you pay. A request to transfer a deposit for something you have never seen, or a message asking for an OTP code or your card PIN, is a reason to walk away. Keep the conversation inside the OLX chat while you can, so you have a record.

How many addresses and searches each plan gives

Free: one search every 30 minutes, one email address. Starter, $5.99: five searches every 10 minutes, still one address. Pro, $14.99: twenty searches, the fastest checks and up to three addresses, handy when a family shares the hunt.
