Sunday evening, three cars, one family budget

A common way a car gets bought: during the week the matches pile up, and on Sunday the family opens the laptop and argues over a Xenia, an Ertiga and a Mobilio at the same budget. Email is made for that. Each new car sits in the inbox with its photo and price, so nobody digs through browser history for the one from Wednesday.

The catch is that a good car rarely waits for Sunday. Read the mails as they come, message the seller of any car that clearly fits, and leave the long comparison for the borderline ones.

Folders, labels and the forward button

Give the search its own label or folder and the inbox turns into a price history for that model in your city. Forward a single mail to a mechanic or a cousin in another city for an opinion; the link in it opens the ad on OLX.

What to verify before money changes hands

See the car in daylight and check that the frame and engine numbers match the STNK and BPKB. Ask about service records and whether a leasing contract is still running. Look for flood marks under the carpets and in the boot, and bring someone who knows engines. Pay once the papers are in order, never by transfer to hold a car you have not seen.

If a seller asks you to take over the remaining loan payments, an arrangement often called over kredit, have it done through the finance company itself rather than by a private note between the two of you.
