A mistake worth avoiding: the search that is only „iPhone“

Type just iPhone across all of Indonesia and the mails fill with cases, chargers, spare screens and phones on the other side of the archipelago. Name the model and storage, set a minimum price, and limit the area to where you can actually meet. Three focused searches beat one vague one.

Then give it a week. If no phone matches, raise the ceiling a little or allow one model older.

Why the inbox suits a phone you plan to keep for years

A used iPhone is not an impulse buy. Mail lets you put two candidates next to each other, look up the market price, and write a careful first message to the seller. Every mail stays searchable, so a fortnight of alerts becomes a price guide: you see what a 128 GB iPhone 12 really fetches in your city.

Before you hand over the money

Check the IMEI is registered for use in Indonesia, especially if the ad mentions inter. In person, have the seller remove the Apple ID and Find My, then check Battery Health, Face ID, the cameras, the screen for burn or dead pixels, and whether the box’s IMEI matches the phone. Pay after checking, never before. A request for a transfer to „hold“ the phone, or a link asking for your banking details, is a reason to stop.

If the seller says the phone has had a screen or battery swap, ask where it was done and look for the replacement message in Settings on newer models. A swap is not a deal breaker, but it belongs in the price.

Getting the mail into your inbox
