The costly habit of buying whatever is on screen

Many new resellers open OLX when they have a spare hour and buy the best thing in front of them. That is buying from leftovers: the sharpest prices of the morning were already collected by someone who looked earlier. The fix is not more hours in the app, it is seeing each new listing close to when it went up and judging it against a fixed rule.

Email suits a reseller who decides at set times, between shop hours or after deliveries, rather than one who answers every ping.

An inbox you can search when pricing your own ads

Because every match lands as mail, a label per search gives you a record of what the same model was offered for across weeks in Jakarta or Medan. Before you list a refurbished laptop, search your inbox for the model and see the asking prices you passed on. That is a better guide than one afternoon of browsing.

Each mail also carries an unsubscribe link, so a product line you stop trading can be switched off from the message itself.

Making sure the first OLX mail is seen

Your mail provider decides where a new sender lands. After the first match, look in spam and promotions, mark the message as wanted and add the sender to your contacts. Gmail on the phone with notifications on for that label is often enough to keep up.

Red flags with bulk sellers in Indonesia

Lots of ten phones or a stack of laptops well below market are where resellers lose the most. Ask for the original box and receipt where they exist, check IMEI or serial numbers and test every unit before paying. Pay on handover rather than by transfer to someone you have not met, and treat an edited screenshot of a „transfer received“ as the oldest trick there is.

A courier who „already has the item on the way“ before you paid anything is another warning sign; so is a seller who will only talk outside OLX from the first message.
