A Saturday morning in Surabaya, one box of phones

Picture it: someone in Rungkut posts a box of four used Android phones at a price that clears their drawer, not one that matches the market. A reseller who sees it while it is fresh asks for photos of the screens, offers a round number and collects that afternoon. The one who sees it after lunch reads „sudah laku“ in the chat. Margin in resale is set at the moment of purchase, and that moment belongs to whoever writes first.

Refreshing OLX between customers does not scale past one category. A card per new listing does: you look at the photo and the price, and either open it or scroll past.

Price ceilings that leave room for your margin

The maximum price filter is your buying rule written into the link. Work backwards from what the item sells for after cleaning, repair and fees, subtract the profit you want, and use that as the cap. A ceiling set too high fills the chat with things you will never buy; set too low, it hides honest sellers who priced a little above a steal.

Keep one search per product line rather than one wide search for everything. A chat with a separate hashtag for phones, scooters and office chairs is easier to scan, and you can mute a slower line so only the urgent one makes a sound.

Checks before you pay a stranger for stock

Meet in a public place or at the seller’s home and test the item before money moves: check the IMEI and that the phone is not locked to an account, start a motorbike cold and compare the frame and engine numbers with the STNK and BPKB. A seller who insists on a transfer before you have seen anything, or sends a „transfer proof“ screenshot to rush you, is a reason to walk away.

When buying several units from one person, ask where they came from. Bulk lots at very low prices are sometimes not the seller’s to sell, and goods you cannot prove you bought fairly are goods you cannot resell.
