New listings land in your inbox

Read one mail per check

When a check finds new flats on your page, a single email lists them: a photo, the title, the rent in tenge and a link to each ad. Apartments that were up before you saved the search are not included, and a check with nothing new sends nothing.

A renter’s checklist for Kazakhstan, before the first mail

Know your ceiling, including utilities, which landlords in Kazakhstan often bill on top of the rent. Know which districts you accept and how far the commute is in January. Know whether you will pay an agent’s commission or want owners only. Know your move-in date. With those four answers your OLX search is short and every mail is worth opening.

If you are relocating with a company or studying away from home, write the checklist down and share it with whoever helps you view flats.

Why an inbox suits a flat hunt with paperwork

Renting involves comparing: rents, deposits, floors, what is included. An email you can search, file in a folder and reread later is a good place for that. Star the three flats worth a call, archive the rest, and next week you still have the links.

It also suits people whose phones are full of chats already: a mail per check, grouped, rather than a buzz for each flat.

Getting the first rental mail out of spam

Whether our mail lands in your inbox is your provider’s decision. After the first match, check the spam and promotions folders, mark the mail as not spam and add the sender to your contacts. Each mail ends with an unsubscribe link for the day you have the keys.

Free and Starter send to one address; Pro sends to up to three, so a family member can follow the hunt from their own mailbox.

Red flags in rental ads in Almaty and Astana

A rent well under what similar flats ask, photos that look like a hotel, a landlord who cannot show the flat and wants a deposit sent first: treat these with care. View the apartment, ask to see proof the person may rent it out, and put the deposit, commission and bills in a written agreement. Never pay through a link someone sends you in a chat.
