Why the evening scroll loses the flat

Ask anyone who moved to Astana for work or to Almaty for university: the decent one-room near the metro or a bus line you need is gone by the time you scroll OLX after dinner. Owners post, take a dozen calls and stop answering. Being the second or third caller often means hearing „already rented“.

With a card in Telegram you see the new flat while it is still fresh, call while the owner still picks up, and book a viewing before the weekend crowd does.

Rooms, district, rent: choosing filters you can live with

Decide what you will not compromise on and filter only that. Two rooms in Bostandyk or Medeu, a maximum rent, long-term: that is a search. Adding furniture, floor and building type on top can hide the flat you would have taken anyway, because owners fill those fields unevenly.

If two districts suit you equally, save them as two searches rather than widening one to the whole city. Couples can share the hunt by forwarding cards, or each save the same link on their own account.

Viewing safely before you hand over a deposit

See the apartment in person, or have someone you trust visit, before paying anything. Ask to see a document showing the person renting it out has the right to do so, and agree the deposit, the commission if an agent is involved and the utility bills in writing.

Be wary of a rent far below the rest of the district, a landlord who is „abroad“ and wants a transfer to hold the keys, or a request to pay through a link sent in a chat. Those are reasons to walk away.
